File this under nice back-to-school news: As part of the APX Alarm’s Family Foundation campaign, the summer model giant donated $10,000 to Sunset View Elementary School in Provo, Utah. The funds will be used for education programs at the school this year.
Stuart Dean told me that Apx is partnering with the local elementary school in other ways as well. “Our employees are involved with tutoring and mentoring programs with the students,” he said.
Apx formally awarded the $10,000 to the school at a Sept. 2 student assembly celebrating the school’s 50 year anniversary.

It is a hard job selling door-to-door products. Weather, unleashed dogs and obnoxious homeowners are all obstacles for a salesman treading concrete, lawns, and pebbled paths.
For APX sales team leader Wyler Whitwer, though, the good far outweighs the bad.
"It is a good summer job," Whitwer said. "You meet a lot of interesting people, and some nicer ones. I met a coastie the other day who took me out fishing."
APX Alarm came into Juneau in late May as Pinnacle Security was finishing their sales services. The company has more than 2,000 customers in Anchorage and Fairbanks.
The company's website states APX is one of the five largest home security companies in the United States, and has more than 500,000 customers across the country. However, APX has generated more than 1,600 complaints during the Better Business Bureau's most recent three-year reporting period. More than half of those complaints dealt with contract or sales-practice issues.
