Are people really thinking about home alarm systems across the US? You bet they are. Gone are the days where you could leave the front door unlocked and not worry. This is not your grandparents US, those days are long gone. This is why even as the economy goes south, people are still investing in home alarm systems. Regardless of whether you are buying a new house or just thinking about protecting your family in an existing home, there are plenty of home alarm companies and home alarm systems to choose from.
Although there are many different alarm systems to choose from, they can basically be grouped into two groups: wired home alarm systems and wireless home alarm systems. Yes, both of these systems do the same basic function – protect your family, but with a wireless system, you will most likely end up spending about 10 times as much as you will with a wired home alarm system.
In the event that your home is not pre-wired for a home alarm system, then wireless is the way to go. But if your home is pre-wired for a home alarm system, then it is hard to do better than installing a wired home alarm system because the costs are so much less than the wireless alarm systems.
No matter if you choose a wired or wireless home alarm, only one thing really matters anyway – that you and your family are protected.

When I finally cut the cord on Thursday, it was quick and painless. I called a Verizon toll-free number, hit a bunch of zeroes until I reached a live person, and asked to cancel my home phone service.
In a matter of minutes, I had severed my lifelong tether to Ma Bell and her progeny.
This wasn’t necessarily an easy step for someone like me. I still drive the Honda Civic that I bought in 1997, watch a decade-old, 26-inch tube TV, and use a DVD player that needs to be turned off and on several times before it even acknowledges that I’m there.
I think the Verizon guy could sense my reluctance the first time I called to cancel, about two years ago. He cheerfully persuaded me to drop the extras – the home voicemail, the unlimited statewide calling – and just go with a bare-bones phone service. After all, he told me, you never know when you might need it in an emergency.
Good point. Except I’ve probably picked up the phone fewer than a dozen times since then. Almost every time, I was calling my misplaced cell phone so I could track it down somewhere in the house. While I dutifully paid the $35 bill each month for this insurance policy, I knew that it was time to cut the cord.
